The importance of protection systems in a person’s life, is the protection from attacks on the body, property and family. That is why people have created many methods of protection, starting from the manufacture of weapons to building fences around property. The methods and tools have changed over time till this day and with the advancement of technology, We have super intelligent systems that vary according to the following:

1940’s | CCTV first used
1960’s | Cameras used to monitor crowds in UK cities
1970’s | CCTV used to protect banks
1988 | CCTV used by local authorities
VCR's
When VCR came along in the 1970’s it was easier to record images, so CCTV became more popular, increasing steadily through the 1980’s when it was seen as a cheaper
Multiplexer's
During the 1990s, digital multiplexing was developed, allowing several cameras to record at once, as well as time lapse and motion-only recording. This increased savings of time and money which then led to an increase in the use of CCTV.
DVR's computer capture cards since 2000's
DVR cards are usually used for Security and other such applications where you need multiple video signals to be recorded e.g. in a security CCTV system. The software for DVR cards ranges in complexity but usually even the most basic DVR card software includes recording to hard disk, Movement Detection and alarms.
Standalone DVR's
A DVR is an electronic device that records video in a digital format to a hard disk drive.
